The Maryland Council of Staff Developers (MCSD) is an affiliate of the National Staff Development Council (NSDC). Founded in 1969, NSDC is the largest non-profit professional association dedicated to accelerating student achievements, to improving schools and organizations through professional development.

The purpose of Professional Development is to produce desirable or intended changes for school improvement and student achievement. This change may be in what you know, believe, or can do or it may be a change in the organization and how it operates. Ultimately, the change(s) must impact your students.
