The National Staff Development Council (NSDC) is committed to ensuring success for all students through staff development and school improvement. The goal of NSDC is “that all teachers in all schools will experience high quality professional learning as part of their daily work by 2007.”

Our goal as presidents of the Maryland Council of Staff Developers (MCSD) is to support the vision of the national organization in the state of Maryland through networking, collaboration, and information dissemination.

MCSD facilitates high quality professional development through collaboration, networking, and provision of resources that reflect NSDC standards, Maryland Teacher Professional Development Standards, Maryland Content Standards with the aim of improvement of the learning of all students.

Our ultimate aim is to honor high quality professional development and to assist Maryland educational leaders in transforming programs that do not meet high quality standards so that all children will receive outstanding instruction in all schools in our state.
